For every beauty addict, getting ready for a night out tends
to be more exciting than the night itself. That’s why, last week Cimrun and I,
along with our two other girlfriends gathered together to perfect our make-up
looks for the night ahead.
For me, eye make-up is the key aspect of any dramatic
make-up look. I decided to opt for a shimmery, gold smoky eye, an ideal look
for any type of celebration or special occasion. I used loose pigment
eye-shadows for the rest of the look, and when people say these can be messy,
they’re NOT lying (trust me I’m speaking from experience); so it’s probably
best to do your base make-up afterwards. Despite the messiness, the result of
these are flawless as the pigment shows up very well and is easy to blend once
applied.
After applying a gold cream eye-shadow base I swept the gold loose pigment all over
the lid. I then placed a folded tissue at an angle at the outer corners of my
eye – not only does this help to collect any excess fallout but also help with
the shaping of the eye-shadow. I used a shimmery black for the outer corners,
applying it in a sort of side-ways ‘V’ shape. To soften this, I blended both
colours together, if I felt as if the colour had been wiped away I would go
back in an re-intensify it by just dabbing a little more of the pigment on to
the lid. Applying a bronzer at the edge of the black eye-shadow is also a great
way to help soften any harsh edges and contour the eye:
A nude lip is the perfect accompaniment to this eye look as
it’s not too dramatic and won’t retract from the eyes.

I did this natural
smoky eye look on my friend. Unfortunately, it can’t be seen very clearly on
the photo but it looked lovely and natural, also making the eye itself stand
out more.
I first made sure that the eye was clean and applied the
first, very lightest colour. Once this was all over the lid it took a slightly
darker colour (second colour) and put in on from the centre of the eye to the
end so the inner corner of the eye was still light and luminous. I finally got
the darkest colour (last colour) and placed very little on my brush since I
didn’t want the colour to be too dark and overpowering. I placed this colour on
the outer corner of the lid and brought it into the crease and over a third of
the lid, I then blended this out and this created a very natural, not too over-powering
looking smoky eye.
I used
black eyelash glue for the lashes, helping it to blend in better with the eye-liner. I
placed the glue on the edge of the eyelashes (flat side) and I waited a few
seconds until it was slightly dry, making it easier to work with. I then placed
the eye lashes as close as I could to the natural eyelashes. Once I had placed
on both eye lashes on waiting about 5 minutes afterwards so that the glue could
properly dry before applying mascara and eyeliner.
For products I used the Bronzing Colour Couture set which is
from BHS, it was originally £8 however at the moment it is on sale for £3. The
eyelashes that I used were the Eylure Girls Aloud False Eyelashes – Kimberley
which are sold at boots for £5.49.
